FIXT POINT Arts & Media is a professional non-profit theatre and media company. We produce site-specific projects aimed at collective storytelling, oral history, and enriched animated and theatrical moments.
As a charitable organization, we rely on your support to continue the important work of gathering stories in Canada’s diverse communities and showcasing histories and collective memories to audiences across the country. All funding received goes towards the ongoing production of our site-specific interactive and immersive performances, podcasts, storymaps, animated short series, and more!
The Tale of a Town, our most ambitious project to date, has trained storygathering artists to interview locals in each province and territory in Canada, collecting stories from the country’s main streets and downtowns. We have interviewed over 3300 Canadians in over 150 communities since the project began touring the country in 2014. These storygathering interviews are shared back with communities through podcasts and performance installations, and shared with a broader audience through our TVO series, Main Street Ontario, on CBC’s Fresh Air, and on our interactive online storymap.
In all of our work, we aim to inspire audiences and communities to imagine change by reflecting on the stories, memories, and values that they hold onto. Beyond The Tale of a Town, we produce rich audio and multimedia projects on a broad range of topics like the 1974 Cyprus conflict and Jewish immigration to Canada.
